GOROKA, Papua New Guinea: Though missionaries are still in the early stages of evangelistic Bible teaching, Maki has already come to realize that Jesus paid his sin debt. The Bena man kept repeating “Manaka” (which means “It is true”) as he and missionary Rich Foster checked a Bible lesson about the Law.As Maki worked with Rich in the translation and preparation of Bible lessons for the Bena Bena people, he put the pieces together and something clicked in his heart and mind. God gave him an understanding of the Gospel and he gave Rich a clear testimony of his faith in Christ.This week other Benas will hear the lesson about the Law. Pray that Maki will now grow in his faith, and pray that more Benas will understand the salvation message and believe

Why Tribal Missions?

So why are we willing to go and live in the middle of nowhere for years, far removed from our families, even from civilization?

Because we’re convinced that God desires every people group on earth to have the opportunity to know Him. He has provided one way for that to happen: by believing that His Son, Jesus Christ, died on the cross to pay the penalty of our sins. Nothing apart from that makes us acceptable to God. We know that without someone like us going to these remote people groups, the message of Christ’s death will never be heard.

Matthew 28:19-20 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit , teaching them to observe all that I commanded you and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Romans 10:14 "How then shall they call upon Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?”

We desire to be a part of the NTM tribal church planting endeavor there. Incredibly, Papua New Guinea has a total of over 850 languages. Of those languages, 700 have never heard the gospel of Jesus Christ and 500 of those languages don’t even have a chance to hear because they lack the Word of God in their own mother tongue. We hope by God’s grace, to take part in planting an indigenous church among one of PNG’s isolated tribes.

We strongly believe that God’s desire is for all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. We hope to be used of God to make Him known in Papua New Guinea.
